Easy Table Number Centerpieces for Your Big Day
I’ve been seeing a lot of cute table centerpiece ideas or table number ideas and I wanted to share a few ideas with you. And of course, the theme is to keep it simple.
One thing you want to keep in mind is Make sure that the table number is easy to read. If you print the table number on a piece of glass for instance, it makes it a lot harder to find the table number. For instance:
Hard to see from far away, right?
Then decide if you’re going to print the table number as a numeral or spell out the number. I prefer the number as a numeral, not spelled out because you can glance quickly and see which table number is yours. While the number being spelled out looks very elegant, it does make it a little bit harder to find your table.
Grabbing a 1×6 or 1×8 board from your local lumber store or big box store and cutting it yourself is simple. Staining in the block of wood is a very classic look. You can also paint it to match your wedding colors or use an accent color. Just be sure there’s enough contrast between the base color and the color of the number to make it easy to read. Painting the table number or using a vinyl cutter to cut the number out and put it on a block of wood is simple and fast. A paint pen will be your friend with this one. If you have great handwriting or maybe a friend that has great handwriting ask them to just simply write out the number using the paint pen. If you plan on putting a polyurethane coating on top of it be sure to do it after you put the vinyl on or you’ve painted the number with the pen.
Another cute idea is to frame pictures of the couple at the same age as the table number. So for table number one, you would have pictures of the couple when they were 1-year-old, then table number two you would have pictures of the couple when they were two years old, and so forth. I would still put a number somewhere on the table because no one’s going to guess the difference between ages 3 and 4. Not even your mother!
An anniversary memento is a nice idea. On each table, place an anniversary card. Then make sure you put instructions for the people on that table to write in the anniversary card a message and you will open it on the anniversary that corresponds with your table number. Be sure to put the table number on the envelope when you place the cards on the table. And be sure that there is a pen on every table.
Another idea is if you use wine bottles as your table number markers, you can leave the cork off of them and a notepad and pen on the table and ask everyone to write you a note and put it inside the bottle. Then you will read them on the anniversary of the year that corresponds with your table number. Of course, this is going to get a little bit messy as you will likely have to break the bottle to get to the notes!
The most important thing to remember when doing your table numbers is to make sure that they are easy to read and easy to see. This is one area you can spend less time on and still have something tasteful. And, of course, keep it simple!
