Where is My Veil?

Finding that Special Dress

Finding the perfect dress for a wedding is an exciting and memorable part of the wedding planning process. While there are countless options available, keeping it simple can make the search more enjoyable and help you discover a dress that truly reflects your personal style. Read on to explore the art of finding that special dress for a wedding while embracing simplicity.

Define Your Style:

Before embarking on your dress hunt, take some time to define your personal style. Are you drawn to classic elegance, bohemian vibes, or modern simplicity? Understanding your style preferences will streamline your search and help you stay focused on finding a dress that truly resonates with you. Remember, simplicity doesn’t mean sacrificing style; it’s about finding a dress that aligns with your taste and makes you feel confident.

Set a Budget:

To keep things simple and stress-free, it’s essential to set a budget for your wedding dress. Determine how much you are comfortable spending and be mindful of sticking to it. Fortunately, there are beautiful options available at various price points. Don’t feel pressured to overspend; focus on finding a dress that makes you feel amazing without breaking the bank.

Research and Narrow Down Options, but Be Open to Options:

Simplify your dress search by doing some initial research online. Browse wedding dress websites, blogs, and social media platforms for inspiration. Create a mood board or save images of dresses that catch your eye. This will help you identify common themes and refine your vision. Keep in mind the importance of simplicity and gravitate towards dresses with clean lines, minimal embellishments, and timeless silhouettes.

Be open to trying options you may not initially gravitate to when looking for ideas. Every body type is different and even though you might like the A-line look, you may not like it on you. Plenty of brides pick dresses they never thought they would like.

Visit Bridal Salons with Intent:

When it’s time to try on dresses, approach bridal salon visits with intent. Research and choose salons that carry styles aligned with your preferences. Limit the number of salons you visit to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Be open to trying on different silhouettes and styles, but stay true to your vision of simplicity. Focus on dresses that highlight your best features and make you feel comfortable and confident.

Also, bring with you people who you know will be honest and not tell you that every dress is beautiful on you. Let’s be real here, not every style fits every body type! When we went dress shopping for my daughter’s dress, she wanted her grandma there. My daughter came out of the dressing room wearing one of the dresses and her grandma said, “That looks like a tablecloth.” And she was right! Needless to say, my daughter didn’t pick that dress and we all had a good laugh!

Embrace Minimalist Designs:

Simplicity often goes hand in hand with minimalist designs. Consider dresses with clean and understated details, such as sleek lines, subtle lace, or delicate embroidery. Embrace the beauty of simplicity by opting for a dress that allows your natural beauty to shine through. Minimalist designs have a timeless elegance that transcends trends, ensuring your dress remains beautiful for years to come.

This also goes for accessories. Do you really need that veil? Will the neckline you choose really need additional enhancements like a necklace? Will you even see a bracelet? My daughter purchased a veil and honestly, it was used in some pictures but in others, she took it off. Then it came time to walk down the aisle. The music had started and the wedding party was on its way, then her dad looked at her and asked, “Hey, where is that veil thingie?” Her maid of honor and I raced into the house and grabbed it. As everyone was making their way up to the front of the venue, we were hurriedly trying to get the veil attached to her very thick hair. We made it just in time! Would have anyone noticed if she didn’t have it? No. So was it really necessary?

Trust Your Instincts:

This is the most important thing to remember. Ultimately, finding that special dress is a personal journey. Trust your instincts and listen to your heart. When you put on a dress and it feels right, when it reflects your vision and makes you feel like the best version of yourself, you’ve found the one. Don’t get caught up in too many opinions or external pressures. Choose a dress that makes you feel beautiful, comfortable, and authentically you.

Finding the perfect dress for a wedding is a delightful experience, especially when you embrace simplicity. Ultimately, by trusting your instincts, you can simplify the process and discover a dress that reflects your unique style and makes you feel like a true bride. Remember, simplicity is elegant, timeless, and allows your natural beauty to shine. Happy dress hunting!
